Spring Cleaning Advice for Movers

movers Are you planning on moving anytime soon? If so, you may be wondering what all you will have to do on move-in day before your movers arrive. After all, there will be a lot of work to be done, and you want to make sure you don’t forget anything. Most people don’t consider the cleaning that needs to be done during a move. The best way to start off in a new home is in a space that is freshly cleaned. Here are some helpful tips you can use to ensure a clean and tidy house. 

Start Moving Early
There is probably a specific day that you need to be out of your current place by. If you call movers in advance, they will be able to take your belongings to your new place before your actual move-out date. That will give you plenty of time to clean the place you are leaving, if it is a rental property. If you can, try to get into your new place early as well. This will allow you to clean everything thoroughly before you move your stuff in. You don’t want to start off in a home that is not spotless, so this step is essential. 

Hire Trustworthy Movers
You could pack up all your belongings yourself, but keep in mind that would take a ton of time and energy that you may not want to dedicate to the moving process. By hiring trustworthy movers to handle the packing and unpacking, you will free up time that can be better utilized to clean your new space. If you are leaving a rental property, this extra time is crucial to have the opportunity to clean your old space. This can mean the difference between losing or getting back your security deposit. 

Bring Cleaning Supplies to Your New Home
You don’t want to have to go out and buy all-new cleaning supplies when you get to your new place, so be sure to pack a separate box of cleaning supplies that is clearly labeled. This box will not be included with the items that go on the moving truck. By transporting the cleaning supplies yourself, you will be sure that they are accessible to you before your movers arrive with your belongings. 

The following are some examples of what should be cleaned prior to moving day:  

  • Disinfect kitchen and bathroom countertops and appliance surfaces
  • Wash the inside and outside of kitchen cabinets
  • Dust the corners of ceilings and baseboards for cobwebs
  • Wash walls with a bucket of soapy water
  • Sweep and mop hard floors and vacuum all rooms and hallways 

By following these tips, you are sure to have a clean and tidy space from the start, so that you can being to quickly get settled into your new space.
